Regent renews contract with famed naturalist
By Jeanie Casison

With more travelers interested in understanding and protecting the environment, a little green education goes well with a cruise incentive. Regent Seven Seas Cruises recently announced that it has made a new commitment to its onboard eco-enrichment program.

The Ft. Lauderdale-based cruise operator signed a three-year contract extension with naturalist and filmmaker Jean-Michel Cousteau, president of the Ocean Futures Society. Cousteau helps Regent create various programs and appears regularly as a guest speaker on Regent cruises. Next year, he will be a lecturer on cruises to South America, India and Africa. In September, he will sail to Tahiti and the Cook Islands aboard the Paul Gauguin.

Cousteau also helped Regent create the Ambassadors of the Environment Circles of Interest, which teaches cruise-goers about biology and ecology through hikes, diving excursions and other first-hand encounters.
