Audience: All employees

Objectives:

• Reduce unscheduled absences from 6 percent to a rate of 1 to 2 percent
• Reduce monetary losses, overtime spending, and temporary hiring related to unscheduled absences
• Increase company production due to higher attendance
• Improve employee morale within the company
• Create goodwill and positive feelings

Strategy and Execution: The company needs to create an attendance incentive program with a campaign theme to generate excitement and motivate employees to come to work. They also need to develop a program to reward employees each quarter for perfect attendance and give participants with perfect attendance for the entire year a large points bonus plus special recognition. The goal here is to reinforce perfect attendance with points that can be banked and redeemed for merchandise.

Solution: The final solution is comprised of three parts.

I. Communications Components:

• Campaign kick-off promotional flyer created
• Lifestyle merchandise catalog with custom cover distributed at kick-off to all participants
• Quarterly points statement handed out each quarter to reinforce perfect attendance
• Annual recognition of top performers

II. Training:

• In-person training provided to all managers and supervisors regarding the program parameters
• Employees trained in team meetings with managers and supervisors

III. Rewards/Recognition Plan

• Lifestyle merchandise collection with 1200+ reward choices
• Participants with perfect attendance are recognized at a special event and presented with a framed certificate of appreciation
