With learning management
systems (LMSs) offering more sophisticated functionality, will more companies look to outsource the operation of them? The answer might very well
be “Yes,” according to NIIT Enterprise Learning Solutions President and business head Sapnesh Lalla. In a recent conference call, Lalla said the future of training outsourcing lies in learning technologies, learning content, and proprietary and off-the-shelf delivery.
He also offered tips for companies considering outsourcing training functions:
-
Determine if it makes sense for your company to do non-core training activities. Organizations that are successful are so because they do what they do best and work with partners who provide support on non-core functions.
-
Look for vendor partners that have
established change management skills. Many companies underestimate the changes and rate of change that will
occur with outsourcing certain training functions. You need to select a partner that will help you manage change.
-
Ask what the vendor’s methodology and approach to the transition will be; look for a detailed methodology and plan before making your selection.
-
Choose a partner that has business ability and the willingness to take
responsibility and be accountable for the training function rather than just providing people or technology.
