>> The HR Certification Institute announced that HR Solutions, Inc., has become an Approved Provider and now can assign recertification credit hours to its HR-related continuing ed events.

>> Online learning institution Penn Foster, Inc., partnered with CareerBuilder to provide full career services to its students and alumni. Penn Foster graduates and qualifying students will receive one-on-one help with a professional resume writer in creating a resume, cover letter, reference sheet, and thank-you letter, plus tips on interviewing. In addition, each registered user will receive personalized recommendations on local job opportunities based on their profile.

>> Luxury hotel operator Thompson Hotels selected eCornell to deliver online professional development programs as part of the company’s in-house education program.

>> Edison Ventures invested $6 million in LearningGuide Solutions, based in Bethesda, MD, and Den Bosch, Netherlands. Edison is the sole institutional investor in this corporate education software and services company.

>> South Carolina joined eight other states in a Center for Energy Workforce Development initiative to train low-income young adults for careers in the energy industry. South Carolina enters the “Get Into Energy” Career Pathways (GIECP) pilot project—launched last year in Ohio, Washington, Georgia, Florida, California, Indiana, and Minnesota—along with North Carolina under the umbrella of the Carolinas Energy Workforce Consortium (CEWC), which includes industry, education, and state workforce representatives.
