MBA in a Book, edited by Leslie Pockell, is a collection of quotes and wisdom from various famous and intelligent people meant to impart their knowledge on those who don't have the time or resources to get their own MBA. It is an easy read with one quote per page by everyone from Aristotle to Coco Chanel.
The book is divided into three parts: business principles, sales tips and leadership principles. The three sections cover topics such as investment, management, motivation trustworthiness and courage, with a collection of quotes pertaining to each.
Each section begins with a brief introduction to the subject and then gets into the appropriate bits of wisdom. In the business principles section, Randall Jacobs is quoted as saying, "There is not substitute for accurate knowledge. Know yourself. Know your business, know your men." In the sales tips part, a quote by Roger Staubach tells readers "There are no traffic jams along the extra mile." Martin Luther King, Jr. is quoted in the leadership principles section as saying, "A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus."
