To avoid the "undesirable attrition, burnout and ennui of good trainers," the North Carolina Office of State Personnel/Human Resources Development Group created a synchronous program that included an examination of the elements of training practice, from research and design to facilitating games and setting up audiovisual equipment. Real change among participants has been noted, including several at high risk of leaving, as well as added requests for train-the-trainer programs in topics outside the usual areas of interest. Other benefits include decreased trainer turnover and increased participation in networking activities.
